1. Determination of the main dimensions, the tire weight

The outer diameter, section width and static radius are measured. Measurements are performed in accordance with GOST 26000. Measuring the mass of the tire allows assessing the properties of tires in terms of efficiency and economy of use. Measurements are performed in accordance with GOST 27704.

Equipment: a press machine to determine the static characteristics of tires, electronic scales.

2. Determination of static and dynamic unbalance of tires

Static unbalance refers to heterogeneous distribution of masses and is determined by measuring the force of gravity or centrifugal force during rotation of the tire.

Measurements are carried out in accordance with GOST 25692.

Equipment: EVD-100, EVD-300 balancing benches made by Hoffman.

Dynamic unbalance occurs due to the uneven distribution of mass in the plane of the wheel. With dynamic unbalance a couple of oppositely directed forces are applied on the wheel acting on the certain shoulder relative to the plane of rotation.

Equipment: Geodina-4300, Geodina-980 balancing benches made by Hoffman.

3. Determination of radial and lateral run-out tires

Determination of the tire run-out to assess geometric heterogeneity of tires.

Equipment: bench to determine the force heterogeneity and run-out of tires.

4. Parameters of force heterogeneity of tires

Variation in the radial and lateral forces is determined by the heterogeneity and the conicity.

Force heterogeneity of tires is determined by the maximum difference between the values of the radial and side reactions of the bearing surface of a tire in one turn of rotation. During testing a fixed distance at a predetermined load between the rotational axles of tires and a pressing drum are maintained.

5. Energy absorbed at fracture of pneumatic tires

Strength properties of the tire, i.e. assessment of the ability to resist the effects of concentrated forces acting in the area of tire contact with the road in the form of irregularities is determined.

Durability of the tire. Indentation of cylindrical steel plunger with a certain diameter in a central zone of the tire tread until the tire is destructed or the plunger abutting the rim sections. In doing so the values of indentation force and the depth of penetration with the plunger are fixed, and thus estimating the energy absorbed at fracture of the tire.

6. Determination of shear resistance of the bead of tubeless tires with rim flange

When testing a special stop piece is applied on the sidewall of the tire with increasing force to shift side (loss of containment) of the tire. For this purpose a necessary effort is determined.

7. Determination of strength at failure tire internal hydraulic pressure

Hydraulic resistance equipment to test tires. Equipment allows automatic control of the process of filling and destruction of the tire. Measurement range of the internal hydraulic pressure is from 0.2 MPa to 22 MPa. Destruction process occurs in a special cabin.

The tire is placed in a horizontal position in a special chamber, ensuring testing safety. The water is pumped into the tire up to the pressure value leading to destruction of the tire.

The rate of pressure rise in the tire is from 0.05 to 0.2 MPa per minute.

The internal pressure of the tire is continuously recorded until its destruction.

At the end of the test the tire is inspected and the nature of its destruction is determined.

8. Total tightness of tubeless tires determination procedure

Determination of loss of internal pressure in the tire within 30 days.

According to the test procedure the loss of internal pressure is determined.

9. Determination of stiffness and coefficients of tire adhesion to the supporting surface at lateral, circumferential and angular slip

During the test, the base plate is moved relative to loaded tire in the lateral, longitudinal and angular directions. When doing so, shear and amount of displacement of the plate are fixed.

10. Determination of the specific pressure at the contact patch

Sensory system is designed to analyze the pressure distribution in the contact patch the tire and the road surface.

Dimensions of the tire patch contact with the flat surface and the surface pressure distribution in the contact patch of the tire under load are measured.

11. Determination of the electrical conductivity of the tires

The electrical resistance refers to a tire's ability to dissipate electrostatic charge from the car. Electrical resistance of tires (Ohm) is measured between the tire mounted on a rim and a metal plate on which the tire is loaded at a certain load.

12. Interferometric control of tires

Interferometric control of tires refers to non-destructive testing of tires. The equipment reveals hidden defects including bubbles, delamination, and foreign inclusions.

It is used during the quality control when developing new models of tires, during acceptance tests and other types of tire tests.

Equipment: equipment ITT- 1 (Interferometric tire tester).
